A father's solution
Dr. Mark Mitchnick, my dad and a pediatrician, kept seeing sunburned kids and sunscreens that didn’t work.
So he invented transparent zinc oxide, built a lab, and supplied major brands. But none made a sunscreen he trusted for his family, so he made it himself. That formula became burnd.
Where I come in
I grew up using my dad’s sunscreen daily—also pale, prone to acne, and always in the ocean. Whenever I run out, nothing else works.
After moving to Costa Rica, I called him and asked him to revive his original formula. I shared it with friends, saw it work, and realized the problem wasn’t just mine. That’s how burnd started.
Our purpose now
Our mission is simple: build a small system of high-performance products that actually work.
We use medical-grade standards, price them accessibly, and live by one rule—if it isn’t genuinely better, it isn’t worth making. No fear-marketing, no noise, full transparency, and products we use ourselves, so everyone can stay outside longer without worrying about their skin.
